SparkFun HX711 Load Cell Amplifier 24 Bit

The SparkFun Load Cell Amplifier is a small breakout board with a HX711 amplifier, which makes it easy to read load cells for weight measurement. When you connect the amplifier to the microcontroller, you can read the change in the load cell's resistance and with some calibration, you can get very accurate weight measurements. This can be handy to create your own industrial scale, process control or simple presence detection. This version of the SparkFun load cell amplifier has some improvements in the circuit. The analog and digital supply has been separated, as well as a 3.3uH inductance and a 0.1uF filter capacitor have been added for the digital supply. The HX711 uses a two-wire interface (Clock and Data) for communication. The GPIO pins of any microcontroller should work and numerous libraries have been written that make reading data from the HX711 easier. Load cells use a Wheatstone bridge configuration with four wires to connect to the HX711. These are usually available in the colors red, black, white, green and yellow.

Connection Pinout HX711:

Each color corresponds to the conventional color coding of load cells:

• Red (Excitation+ or VCC)
  
• Black (Excitation- or GND)
• White (Amplification+, Signal+ or Output+)
• Green (A-, S- or O-)
• Yellow (Shielding)

The YLW pin serves as an optional input not connected to the strain gauge but used for grounding and shielding.
