Gravity PM2.5 Air Quality Particulate Matter Sensor

This is a particulate matter sensor for air quality from DFRobot. The sensor can measure and categorize different particulate matter with varying sizes, and subsequently provide concentration values via the I2C interface. Particles of size PM10 (2.5-10µm), PM2.5 (1.0-2.5 µm), and PM1 (0.3-1.0 µm) are weighted differently, as larger particles are partly intercepted by the mucous membranes in the nasal/pharyngeal area. The sensor uses the principle of laser scattering, meaning the laser irradiates the suspended particles in the air to produce scattering, and simultaneously collects the scattered light at a certain angle to obtain the curve of the intensity of the scattered light over time. The microprocessor then determines the equivalent particle size of the particles and the number of particles of different sizes per unit volume based on the MIE theory algorithm. The module is excellent for air monitoring in kitchens, heated rooms, bathrooms, or even for measuring particulate matter pollution outdoors.
